Groups : From Conception to Birth

August 27, 2021 - August 29, 2021

Ever since the pandemic started (and even before that), there has been an increasing need for supportive spaces. These spaces could be in the form of support groups, therapy groups, engagement groups, reflective groups, supervision groups, etc.

The process of thinking about and setting up a group can be filled with anxieties. It places a considerable demand on the facilitator(s) and the several administrative and ethical responsibilities that one must consider can feel overwhelming. Have you ever thought about starting your own group? or do you find yourself asking why we even need groups?

Zoom link will be sent post confirmation of registration through full payment*

*all payments are non-refundable

Through this short workshop, we hope to touch upon some important considerations in setting up groups, particularly therapy groups.

Over the three days, we will cover the following points:

– Why do we need groups ?

– What are the anxieties one is confronted with in groups ?

– What could a group look like ? Types and composition

– Who could use groups ? Assessments for group therapy

– How does one start a group ? Concerns about training, supervision, dynamic administration, preparing patients for group therapy

– What are some of the mistakes we have made and what could we have done differently ?
